Lee Roy Selmon's existence is a combination of football scholarship, family service and community involvement. The first line of his family was that he's the youngest out of nine kids who were raised by Eufala by Lucious Selmon. He played second in football and was the third brother who played for Oklahoma. Three brothers were All-America. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy has won both the Outland Award and the Lombardi Award as the top lineman in America. The three years he was an offensive lineman, Oklahoma went 32- 1-1 and won two national championships. As an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon received an award for his third season in 1975. Selmon received a degree in education. Lee Roy spent ten hours every week in volunteer work throughout his time at college. In Tampa the Buccaneers, he was a player for the Buccaneers for nine seasons, and eventually became an all-pro. He also began an entrepreneurial career. In 1988, while working as an account representative at First Florida Bank of Tampa, he worked with Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There was no doubt that In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce named Lee Roy one of 10 outstanding youngsters across the nation. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 7-foot-2. In his time at college, he commanded the team of 1975. In 1993, he was appointed the assistant director of Athletics at the University of South Florida. The College Football Hall of Fame named him on the 28th of October, the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter of the National Football Foundation in 1989 presented the Distinguished American Award to his parents, Mr. and Mrs.. Lucious Selmon Sr. The award ceremony was conducted by Henry Bellmon govenor of Oklahoma.
